Anderson Silva shows off ‘superpowers’ in latest Fox ad
Anderson Silva, the still-reigning king of the pound-for-pound rankings, showed off how he really likes to punch things in the latest ad for Fox. Like the Jon Jones ad before it, this ad shows Silva is "just a normal guy," except not at all. Judging by the aftermath Silva's punches left in his neighborhood, Chael Sonnen should be concerned about what he will look like after their bout on June 23.

Ranking with class: Cagewriter ranks MMA’s weight classes
The UFC recently added flyweights to their line-up, but where does this tiny new weight class stack up against its counterparts? Using MMA Weekly's rankings as a guide, Cagewriter ranked MMA's weight classes.
1. Lightweight: As soon as Benson Henderson won the UFC lightweight belt, questions about who he would fight next popped up. There were plenty of qualified options. Frankie Edgar, Anthony Pettis, Jim Miller, and Nate Diaz all show how strong this division is. Take a look outside the UFC, and you have Strikeforce champ Gilbert Melendez, Bellator champ Michael Chandler and the man he beat, Eddie Alvarez.
2. Heavyweight: A few years ago, I would have put this division at the bottom of the list, but in recent years, stars like Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez have emerged. Alistair Overeem bulked up and went to the UFC and the Strikeforce heavyweight Grand Prix showed the strengths of heavyweights. Even with Brock Lesnar retired and Fedor Emelianenko fighting whoever he can, it's a strong division.
3. Light heavyweight: Jon Jones is at the top of a weight class that includes seven men who have held Strikeforce or UFC belts. Throw in younger fighters with tons of potential, like Phil Davis and Alexander Gustaffson, and you've got one heck of a division.
4. Middleweight: Anderson Silva's reign at the top of the pound-for-pound rankings helped power the 185ers to the top half of the list. What else helped? Chael Sonnen and his near-defeat of Silva, the way Vitor Belfort rebounded from his loss to Silva, and the strength of Mark Munoz and Michael Bisping, who are waiting in the wings for the next title shot.
5. Featherweight: Jose Aldo is really, really, really good, and the rest of the division is trying to keep up. Pat Curran and Joe Warren from Bellator strengthen the division. If Frankie Edgar decides to drop down after his fight with Benson Henderson, the division jumps a few notches.
6. Welterweight: The problem with the welterweights is that Georges St. Pierre is so good and also so injured, so it's hard to tell how much better he is than his counterparts when he hasn't fought since April of 2011. Nick Diaz's retirement/suspension and his inability to rematch with Carlos Condit doesn't help, either.
7. Bantamweight: At the top, you have current UFC champ Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber, who will fight for the third time this summer. Then, you have several fighters who have lost to Faber and Cruz. Renan Barao or Michael McDonald have a shot at unseating Cruz or Faber, but they're not enough to make a strong division.
8. Flyweight: I love the way flyweights fight. If you watched last Friday's UFC on FX 2, you probably do, too. They're fast and have cardio for days. But as far as depth? It's still to be seen. Yasuhiro Urushitani, won of the best flyweights to come from Japan, was easily beaten by Joseph Benavidez. They will stay at the bottom of the pack until they're built up.
You don't agree? You want to make some tweaks? Do it in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.

MMA Marketplace: A tiny championship belt for your little fighter doll
If one of your MMA dolls, erm, action figures has proven himself to be better than the rest, doesn't he deserve a championship belt? You're in luck. There is an Etsy store that can help you with that.
When one of your action figures wins the belt, all the other ones will yell, "I want my belt back!" or "I want B.J.'s belt!" They may even get on their knees to beg you for a title shot, but at some point you will have to make hard decisions on which doll gets the next chance to win the title.
Or, since they cost just $3, you can just buy a belt for every doll.

Dana White’s video blog explains TUF and McCall/Johnson draw
Dana White's latest video blog answers many of your questions about the latest season "The Ultimate Fighter," including how last season's premiere was very different from how the rest of the season will run. You'll also see that the UFC championship belts are sharp.
It also takes you behind the scenes in Australia, including a dissection of the Ian McCall/Demetrious Johnson debacle. The two are expected to rematch at the TUF finale in June. You'll get to see White tell McCall and Johnson separately about the draw.
As always, plenty of NSFW language when White is involved.

Five NCAA wrestling All-Americans we hope try MMA
MMA's ties with NCAA wrestling were evident on Saturday, as Randy Couture, Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley presented awards and several other fighters were in the stands cheering on the wrestlers. The mats were filled with future fighters. Not all have professed an interest in making the jump to MMA, but here are the ones I hope will make the jump at some point, whether it's as soon as they graduate or after making a run towards Olympic gold.
Kyle Dake, Cornell -- Because even though he already has three national titles under his belt, Dake is still growing and getting better. He has jumped a weight class every year, and dominated every new weight. Rumor has it that Dake is headed to medical school, so cagefighting probably isn't in his future. It's still fun to dream, right?
David Taylor, Penn State -- The sophomore pinned his way to the finals, then finished off his Most Outstanding Wrestler award-winning performance with a technical fall. His smooth takedowns had opponents on the ground before they knew what happened.
Tony Ramos, Iowa -- Another sophomore, Ramos won his third-place match by coming from out of nowhere to pin Minnesota's Chris Dardanes. At 133 lbs, his size and speed could find a home a fly or bantamweight.
Jordan Oliver, Oklahoma State -- He may have lost his final on a controversial call, but that doesn't take away the junior's accomplishments in the tournament. He pinned his way to the final with a nasty takedown that could wreak havoc in the cage.
Christopher Honeycutt, Edinboro -- The runner-up at 197 lbs. has already indicated his plans to go into MMA, and opponents will have a hard time dealing with his strength and size. He told reporters that he is fascinated by the challenge of mastering so many disciplines of MMA, and won't be the first Fighting Scot to try fighting. Josh Koscheck won a national championship for Edinboro.
Did I miss anybody? Disagree with these choices? Speak your mind in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.

Three Stars from a whirlwind weekend of MMA: Rousey, Benavidez and Kampmann
An overshadowed weekend of fights still managed to deliver, as both UFC on FX 2 and Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Tate gave MMA fans plenty of fights to remember. Out of the two events, who really stood out? Here are Cagewriter's Three Stars. Tell us yours in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.
No. 1 star -- Ronda Rousey: Her win over Miesha Tate at Strikeforce on Saturday lasted longer than her collected MMA career before the fight, but it still ended the same way: first-round armbar. Rousey faced her most talented foe, handled Tate's striking, and won with a submission that made stomachs turn around the country. Next, she will most likely defend her belt against Sarah Kaufman.
No. 2 star -- Joe Benavidez: Lost in the chaos of the Demetrious Johnson/Ian McCall draw was Benavidez and his Knockout of the Night performance at UFC on FX 2 on Friday. It took him just 11 seconds in the second round to take out Yasuhiro Urushitani, who was on a five-fight win streak heading into Friday's bout. Benavidez punched his ticket to the final of the flyweight tournament, but now has to wait for the McCall-Johnson rematch.
No. 3 star -- Martin Kampmann: Perhaps it was Kampmann's plan from the beginning -- let Thiago Alves beat him up for 14 minutes. Then, when Alves made the mistake of a lazy takedown attempt, pow! Lay on the guillotine and submit him at 4:12 in the third round. OK, maybe that wasn't his plan, but it worked out for him anyway. Not only did he get his second win in a row, but he walked away with a Submission of the Night bonus.

UFC, eh? UFC will head to Canada three times in 2012
Mark your calendars, Canadian fans. The UFC announced today they will visit the home and native land of welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre three times in the remainder of 2012.
They will start in Calgary on July 21, where Jose Aldo will fight a yet-to-be-named fighter. After that, it's UFC 152 in Toronto Sept. 22, and UFC 154 in Montreal Nov. 17. St. Pierre, who was present at the press conference, announced the Montreal date.
GSP also gave an update on his health, saying he is progressing smoothly and is hoping to be back by November.
"When you get an injury like I have and you're off for a long period of time, the only thing you wish is to get back fast as possible," he said. "I don't know if it will be in the U.S. or Canada, but I wish and I pray that I have a chance to perform in 2012. No matter where it will be, I want to come back and fight in 2012."
St. Pierre is a native of Montreal, and has enjoyed great success when fighting in front of the rabid home crowd Canada can provide. His last two fights were won in Canada, and he exacted revenge on Matt Serra, one of the few men to beat him, in Montreal.
Though he isn't likely to rush his recovery from an ACL tear, he also has plenty of motivation to be ready to go on Nov. 17.

Matchmaker, matchmaker: May is for heavyweights
The latest in fight bookings, starring tons of heavyweights fighting in May:
-- If Roy Nelson's Facebook followers get him to drop to light heavyweight, it will have to happen after UFC 146. He will face former Strikeforce heavyweight Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva there on May 26.
-- Also at UFC 146, Cain Velasquez will take on Frank Mir in a title-eliminator bout. This is Velasquez's first fight since losing the heavyweight belt to Junior dos Santos. Mir won his last three bouts, including a gruesome submission of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in December.
-- During Saturday's fights, Strikeforce announced the final of the drawn-out heavyweight grand prix. With a healed hand, Daniel Cormier will take on Josh Barnett on May 19. Barnett received a conditional license from California on Monday, and the fight is expected to take place in San Jose.
-- In non-heavyweight action, Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler will take on UFC, Sengoku and Pride veteran Akihiro Gono at Bellator 67 on May 4 outside Toronto.

Knockout of the week part II: Dennis Siver’s spinning back kick
MMA judges do not award points for originality, and wins are still wins whether they happen with style or not. But that doesn't mean MMA fans won't appreciate a knockout with a little flair from time to time.
Dennis Siver brought that panache to his fight with Nate Mohr at UFC 93. He took him out with a spinning back kick to the abdomen and following up punches.
Siver then used the same attack to take out Paul Kelly at UFC 105. Watch Siver's next bout on UFC on Fuel in April.

Bet is I will try to get to 205 if I can add 100k to Facebook.com/RoyNelsonUFC in two weeks. I love to win bets. Plus he will have to give me a part in his next movie.
For his fight with Fabricio Werdum, Nelson weighed in at 246 lbs. He's six-foot, a normal height for light heavies. Considering how he has slimmed down and added muscle since his stint on "The Ultimate Fighter," dropping to 205 lbs. isn't out of the question.
As of right now, he has 62,000, and 13 days to continue to add likes. You can help him in this by visiting Nelson's Facebook page and simply pressing like. Feel free to visit the Cagewriter Facebook page and give it a like, too.
